MANGONUI.
Another of our old and respected, settlers has passed away in the person of Mr. Robert Bruce, at the ripe age of eighty. He was a man of little ostentation, and did not take much part in public affair?, yet he ever manifested a lively interest in all that concerned the best interests of this district, and for many years took part in' conducting a monthly service on the Sabbath at the small church in Oruaiti, near this place. His remains were interred in the church burying ground on Sunday'lOth inst. in. presence of a large _ concourse of the settlers, the funeral' services Being conducted by Mr. BalL The Sabbath school children, under Mr. Prosser, sang the well known hymn " For ever with the Lord," an appropriate conclusion -to : the solemn services.' Mr. Bruce was a native of Scotland, and has been a resident in New Zealand for'about twelve years.' He leaves a widow and two daughters in this place. [Own Correspondent.]
