VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
The usual monthly club firing of No. 3 Company, A.8..V., took place at the Mount Kden range on Saturday afternoon. The weather was propitious and whatever wind there was, to the competitors' satisfaction, was blowing straight down the range. The distances were 200, 400, and 500 yards; seven shots at each. The firing at tho two former was not good, but at the latter several creditable scores were made. The of the contest was a tie between Captain Morrow and Volunteer J. May for the position of honour; but, as the firstnamed gentleman made the best score at the longest distance, he takes prtcedenee of his rival, and accordingly holds the prize—the Ladies' Cup—until the next monthly competition. The four h'ghest on the list also received money prizes. Their names, iwth the number of points made by each, were follow :— Captain A. Morrow .. .. ..60 Volunteer .T. May .. .. .. 50 VolunteerD. Hay .. .. ..55 Volunteer A. J. Yates.. .. .. 54
