This road question is intimately connected with the condition of Drake-street, which, as at present, being rapidly torn away by surface drainago, and presenting an unprotected chams, extending many chains in length, is a disgrace to the cit3", and dangerous to life. Again, I observe that the just claims of Napier-street, which has been paying a large amount of rates for years past without the slightest recognition by way of local expenditure, has been totally ignored. Finally, we have the result of the discussion on Mr. Prime's motion, to extend the water- , —jyks along the PonsoDby Road to Franklinstreet, which shews plainly, notwithstanding ''that the wisdom of the proposal is admitted, that the majority of our City Councillors have a persistent " down" upon any proposal calcnlated to benefit or improve City West or the western suburbs. This being manifest, it is their duty, as it certainly is within the power of the ratepayers of City West, to shew, in a very marked manner and at no distant period, their entire disapprobation of an established disregard of their legitimate claims.—l am, &c., 1 Observer.
