Lloyd, J.P. ; , was voted to the chair.—Mr. Sidwell proposed that the old Committee be re-elected. —Five other persons were then nominated as members of Committee.—Mr., Lord proposed that the votes 'tye taken by a show of hands.—rMr. Bond said that the proposition was opposed to the law, and was treating, the Central Board with contempt. He requested the Chairman to uphold the dignity of the law and allow each ratepayer present to record his votes.—Mr. Blake entreated the Chairman to take the votes as pointed out by the Act, and said that, by so doing, the right men would go in the right place.—The Chairman, in reply,. said he had nothing to do with the law ; he knew how public meetings : should be conducted, and if an amendment were not moved he should declare the proposition carried.—Several persons claimed to record their votes which were not accepted. —The Chairman, after having stated that the old Committee was re-elected, vacated the chair, when another meeting was held and the folio ring * persons were elected as a Committee for the ensuing year : Messrs. 11. Kelly, Wm. Watkinson, E. Bruntou, John Blake, and E. Bond. It now remains to be seen which of the Committees the Board of Education will consider properly elected, their decision being final. —[Correspondent, Feb. 26.]
