THE LAKE.
During the past week Mrs. Whitaker has again displayed her generous hospitality by inviting the neighbouring settlers to a picnic at Mona Cottage. Oil Thursday, the 24th inst., although in the morniug the weather was somewhat uupropitious, about sixty assembled at one o'clock, aud did ample justice to a most sumptuous repast; after which the time was most agreeably spent by some in crossing the enchanting lake, and by all either witnessing or joining in a variety of pleasing games. Several dauces were well performed on the green, the Misses Whitakcr and Miss Page presiding at the pianoforte, aud Mr Kelly displaying his skill oil the flute. After tea and indulging in further healthful games, the company, through Mr. Seaman, thanked Mrs Whi.aker for her renewed hospitality and the young ladies for contributing so heartily to the day's enjoyinent; and with three lusty cheers, and one cheer more, dispersed to their homes with many happy reflections on the day's entertainment. —[Cor respondent. ]
