HIGH FARES.
To the Editor of the Herald. Sir, —I met Mr. Holmes on the wharf this morning, and said to him, "Who wrote that letter in the-HEKALD for you ? " He replied, "There is no letter of mine in the Herald.'" Captain Edwards, their manager, volunteered to state that no mar> connected with, the firi_i of Holmes Brothers lind any knowledge of the advertised letter. This shows clearly that Mr. Eobert Graham got frig comrade man and gnest to write the letter o£ the2sth, signed "Invalid." That " Invalid" is well fed and pampered, and no charge made on hi 3 strawberries and cream. If other invalids have anything to complain of, they say that it is the high terms of board, and lodging at the Sot Springs. Xamin a better position to know this than any other man, I hear such an immense amount of grumbling about it. I fancy I saw some such dirty work as this between our enterprising colonist and the railway manager. But 1 will never lie down to be trodden upon, after building up a business that had no existence before I took it in hand. The s.s. Minnie Caßey cost a large snm of money, and proves herself equal to her work and gives satisfaction to the travelling portion o£ the public, who, I am sure, do not wish me to receive ho returns for my outlay. The North Shore Ferry Company gave up a-. - fourth of their income. As a, frequent traveller to theNerth Shore, I don't thank tihats Company for their three-pence.—l am, Jfcc., J.
