TO-DAY'S SPORTS.

At the Ellerslie Gardens, Caledonian games will take place, together with athletic sports. A programme of the day's proceedings appears elsewhere. There will also be dancing in the Rotunda, for -which the B'obson Band is specially engaged. A very excellent day's enjoyment may be looked forward to by those who make up their mind to pay a visit to the gardens. The North Shore Rowing Club sports win also form an attraction, not only to the residents of that district, but also to many on this side of the water. To those who enjoy water excursions the three steamers laid on to-day for the Hot Springs offer a special inducement. Races and other sports will take place on the beach and in the paddocks, so that plenty of amusement will be found at this marine retreat. The p.s. Hauraki leaves Queen-street Wharf at 9 a.m. for the Springs, the s.s. lona at 10 o'clock, and the a.s. Minnie Casey at 11 a.m. The lona also proceeds on to the Kawau, calling at the Springs again on her way back. Vauxhall Gardens, North Shore, will be patronised by the Devonport Lodge of Good Templars and their friends, and a seriee of | sports will take place. The muster of the Auckland Lodges of Good Templars will take place ai; 10 o'clock at the Grey-street Fire-bell, when the procession will move on to the Domain for a day's picnic. Onehunga wjjl not be without its excursion, for the e.B. Go-Ahead is announced to make a trip to places of interest in the Manukau, including Awhitu. The steamer leaves the Government Wharf at 10 a. m. In the evening the Prince of Wales Theatre will open its doors to the performance of the usual Christmas pantomime. "Harlequin Bluebeard" on this occasion is likely to surpass all its predecessors, and prove pleasing alike to both old and young. A special programme hae been prepared for to-night's entertainment at the City Hall, and the ventriloquism of Mr. E. D. Davies will cause wonder and amusement by his cleverness and drollery. The performance of both himself and his talented company is worth going to see. The Saturday Nights' Entertainment Committee have arranged a grand concert in' the Lome-street Hall, with a very excellent programme An entertainment will .also be given in Parnell Hall, by the Naval Brigade Variety Troupe.
