At the show of hands there was a majority of 12 for Mr. O'Connor, who declared himself opposed to abolition, bat in favour of a modified Provincialism, Dr. Henry's chance is considered good. Near the theatre last night, a man named Faithful was stabbed in a most deliberate manner, in three places, by Theodore Arnold. They were shipmates by the i Langstone, recently arrived from England. I Arnold seemed to have a grievance against Faithful, and would have killed him if the police had not quickly interfered. Arnold said he had been waiting several days to do it. Two of the wounds are in the jaw, the other in the lett side, but not serious. Christchtjrch, Friday.
