Electoral. mo THE ELECTORS OF FRANKLIN. I beg to announce that I am a Candidate for your suffrages at the General Election of Member* of the House of Representatives, and will take an early opportunity of addressing you on the Constitutional questions. w„.™ tm „ JAS. CRAWFORD, Jdn. Wairoa, November 19,1875. mo THE ELECTORS OP NEWTON. Gentlemen,—Having reason to believe that I fairly represented your opinions in Parliament, and knowing that I did my best to do so, I offer myself as a Candidate for re-election. There is nothing I can say that will enable you to know more of me than you do now, as I am and have been personally known for many years to nearly all of you. As to what is to be done now, I say letxis, as far as possible, manage our own affairs. Surely we. who know, and are interested, can do so better than those whs neither know nor care, and whose interests are often opposed to ours. If you sec fit to elect me, my conduct will be tho same in the future as it has been in the past—an endeavour, as far as possible, to get unity of action among our Members ; to reduce wasteful expenditure; to put power into the hands of the people—not to de prive them of it; and that all great questions should be submitted to them. WM. SWANSON. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE RODNEY DISTRICT. Gentlemen,—ln taking leave of you on resigning the seat I held for your district in the House of Representatives,.! expressed the hope that ihe tie then existing between us would be interrupted only for a short period: still entertaining this hope, I now beg to offer, myself as a Candidate for your suffrages at the approaching General Election. Bhould you do me the honor of again returning me, I trust that as I was enabled in the first Session of this Parliament to got your existence recognised, and your just claims acknowledged, so in the next Parliament I may also be able to secure for you a fair share Of the Public Works expenditure; and also see that any sums voted for Roads and Works North of Auckland are legitimately applied to the purpose for which tbey are intended, and not frittered away through the Native Department or deliberately misappropriated as in the case of the £18,000 expended on the bridge at Mangere, the cost of which was defrayed out of the £60,000 obtained by me for the benefit of the Districts North of Auckland. It is my intention to visit in person the various Settlements in the Rodney District, when I shall be happy to meet the Electors and state my views upon the present political crisis; meantime, without pledging myself to follow any leader until I know precisely what proposals are to be brought forward in opposition to those propounded by the present Government, I will only say that I think that the thanks of the whole community are due to Sir George Grey and those who acted with him, for the bold stand they made in securing to the people the right to decide what shall be the future form of Government in these Islands. I am, Gentlemen, Yours truly, H. W. FARNALL. November 11,1875. TO JAMES McCOSH CLARK, ESQ., AUCKLAND. We, the undersigned Electors of the City Fast, request that you will allow us to put you in nomination to represent the above constituency in the ensuing Parliament. We feel assured from your long residence in this Province, nd the experience you possess of its affairs and of those of the colony generally, that your presence in the General Assembly at the present crisis would be of great service to the public interest. Should you comply with thi3 requisition, wo will de our best to secure your return. J. Logan CampbeU James Baber B. Ireland William Gorrie A. Wardrop Thomas Short H. F. Anderson W. S. Buckland J.
