BARLOW'S CIRCUS.

Barlow's Circus Troupe gave their opening performance last night at the Pavilion, Market-square, to a crowded house. The entertainment was of a very varied character, and seemed to give every satisfaction to the large assemblage present. The equestrian feats of Mr. Salavero and Master Koma 'on the trick horses " Selim," and "Butterfly," won the hearty plaudits of the spectators, while the clown, as usual, took the flights of hurdles " like a Bird." As for the dogs and monkeys, if their feats did not fully prove the Dawinian theory of " development," they at least shewed that the boundary line was very faint which nrarked where reason ended and instinct began. In the great " dog and monkey.steeplechase" that concluded the entertainment, and in which the dogs were coursers with monkey jockeys, it was most amusing to witness one of the "jocks," rejoicing in the name of " Mickey Free," but whose Milesian origin is more than doubtful, putting, if we may use the phrase, his whole "soul" into the. struggle. Master Roma did some very clever tricks in the vaulting and summersault line, while the clown (Mr. Bird) as funambulist, kept the house in good humour by his odd remarks on "things in general," which were occasionally seasoned with Attic salt. The performance will be repeated this evening. A slight contretemps took place early in the evening, through a portion of the staging of the amphitheatre giving way, and some hfty people somewhat unceremoniously taking a "back seat." Mr. Barlow expressed his regret for the mishap, and promised that before this evening's performance took place, every step would be taken to ensure the comfort and security of the audience.
