Tenders. rji e x d e r. s. COLONY OF FIJI. ' INTEIUXSULAK STEAM PACKET SERVICE. Tenders will be received at the Otiico of the Colonial Secretary, Fiji, until the 30th October next, from steamship owners and others desirous of establishing an INTEKINSULAR STEAM PACKET COMPANY in this colony. The proposition or tender to specify the amount of subsidy required by the contractors. The contract to be for Two Ocean-going Steamers of not less than seventy (70) and not more than one hundred and fifty (150) tons registered measurement, upon a draft of water when loaded of not more than six (G) feet. The contract to be for a term of five years from the date of execution, subject td renewal at its expiratiou without further tenders being called for. provided the service has been performed to the satisfaction of the Government. Contractors will be required to enter into bonds for the due performance of their engagement. Eastern Service (once a fortnight from Levuka or other port as may be hereafter decided) to llu », Wainunu, Savu Savu, Vuna, Wairiki, M*U, Lauthala, Loma Loma, Goro, Mokogai or Wakaya. Western Service (once a fortnight from Leruka or other port as may be hereafter determined} to Vlti Levu Bay. Raki Raki, Tavua, Ba, Nadi, Nadroga, Navua, Suva or Rews. And once in every four weeks to Kadavu, or such other place, not being the Seat of Government, at which the Trans-Pacific mail steamers may call. It is desired that the foregoing service may be so arranged as to admit of one of the two vessels generally being at the Seat of Government. It will also require the contract to be so expressed as to permit the Government, whenever it may so desire, to employ I the unengaged steamer upon special service, at a daily ; rate of remuneration, to be settled in the contract. In consideration of the subsidy to be given by the Government, the contractors to carry H.M. mails. Government officers on duty, and police and prisoners frie of charge, save such as may arise for maintenance while on.board. The Government does not bind itself to acccpt the lowest or any tender.
