The P.ismarck got 100 lbs. of specimens yesterday, and 40 lbs. to-day. They are very rich. Heenan's claim are crushing 16 tons at the Nil Despeiandum battery. A good yield is cxpccted. The Who'd-Have-Thought-It claim have about eight tons of rich crushing dirt. Brady s claim got a small pocket of gold. The leader is small, but the stuff is good.

In the City of Auckland the manager reports tho leader in the intermediate stopes as looking better. A little gold has been seen in breaking down, but they have no specimens to report. They will rise on the left-hand branch next week. In the low level drive the leader has been pinched, the country being hard and wet, and they expect no change till the leader makes. They have got over 100 tons of stuff to crush, but the state of the tramway is such that they cannot get it to the battery. The Tokatea manager reports : —" During the week we get about 100 lbs. specimens from stopes going in from Xo. 1 rise, Siege of Paris level. The leader here has been very mullocky for the most of tho distance driven, and quite different ground to the stope below, but I think it has the appearance of an improvement in the face of stope. The contractors in the Van level are still in good working country, aud had a good, strong lode, which shewed gold frequently in tho early part of the week, but at present rather small, with indications of opening out large again. I have about 30 tons quartz in paddock from right-hand branch of No. - level, that I intend sending to mill next week as a test of that leader. We have about 100 tons of quartz in Siege paddock, but this cannot be put through at present, as the Bismarck Company have quartz in the battery hoppers. Will crush immediately after Bismarck." The Union Beach reef widens out to four feet, and shews gold freely.
