Mercury Island was passed at 4 a.m. on the 16th, and at 7 a.m. passed alongside of Richard's Rock, abreast nf the Little , Mercury. Owing to the wind falling light, the brig was unable to reach further than the North Head last sight. The brig is consigned to Messrs. Tonks and CO. The attention of the General Government is called to the fact that Rlc' ard's Rock in the vicinity of Little Mercury Island, and marked "dangerous" on the chart, requires to be buoyed in order to mark its whereabouts. The rock Is in the track of vessels trading between this port and the South, and the traffic now warracta some precautionary m asures beiug taken to warn shipmasters, beyond m> rely marking -, the rock on the chart as "dangerous."
