The proposition or tender to specify the amount of subsidy required by the contractors. The contract to be for Two Ocean-going Steamers of not less than seventy (70'; and not more than one hundred and fifty (ISO) tons registered measurement, upon a draft of water when ioaded of not more than six (0) feet. The contract to bo for a term of Ave years from the dato of execution, subject to renewal at its expiration without further tenders being called for. provided the service has been performed to the satisfaction of the Government. Contractors will be required: to enter into bonds for tho due performance of their engagement. Eastern Service (once a fortnight from Lcvuka or other port as may be hereafter decided) to Bua, Waimintt, Savu Savu, Vuna, Wairiki, Matl, Lauthala, Loins Loma, Goro, Mokogai or Wakaya. Western Service (once a fortnight from Lcvuka or other port as may be hereafter determined; to Viti Levn Bay, Raid Raki, Tavua, B», Nadi, Nadroga, Navua, Suva or Kewa. And once In every fo° r weeks to Kadavu, or «nch other place, not being the Seat of Government, at which the Trans-Pacific mall steamers may vault is desired that the foregolug service maybe so arrang-'d as to admit of one of the two Tessels generally being at the Seat of Government. It will also require the contract to be so expressed as to permit tho Government, whenever it may so desire, to employ the unengaged steamer upon special service, at adaily rate of remuneration, to be settled in the contract. In consideration of the subsidy to be given by the Government, the contractors to carry H.M. malls. Government officers on duty, and police and prisoners fr< e of charge, save such as may arise for maintenance while on board. The Government docs not bind itself to accept the lowest or any tender.
