Johnson and Prcseott, have had another small crushing of picked etono, obtained during the laet week ; 37 lbs. atone yielded 19 ozs. 19 dwts. 19 grs. of incited gold. From the appearanco of the lode which has been opened out on tho bottom level and connected with upper workings by a rise, the general stuff for tho next crushing promises to givo a good return. Kvuanui Triiiute.—The working of the portion let to Messrs. James and Jenkins continues to furnish good payable stone; from 70 tons reduced at the Kuranui battery 202 ozs. retorted gold was obtained, which, on beiug melted, gave 19S ozs. 11 dwts. Makukau.—A further addition of 20 lbs. of epeciuicns came to hand on Saturday.^ Citv ok London.—The show on No. 4 reef, near the City of York boundary, continues good. Largo quantities of crushing dirt available from this locality. The sinking of the winze on the main reef from the 350-feet to the new level now being opened from tho shaft, or 70 feet lower down, continues on quartz ; no wall on either side ; and tho last ton brought up from the foot of the winze, sunk at present 25 feet, shewed gold freely disseminated throughout the stone, and augurs well for tho character of the stone to be obtained from the low level.

Cuown Puinckss.— A fair show of epecimens was obtained from No. 2 and specimen leader on Saturday, tho quantity on hand towards next crushing being 2501b5., besides general stuff accumulating for the mill. The drive on >"o. 2 reef lias readied the boundary of the Kxchange ground, and will afford a largo amount of crushing dirt for stoping out, the quality of which has evidently improved with the increased depth. Exchange.—This property was submitted to public auction this day, by Mr. Craig, aud naa knocked down to Mr. Ruddock for the sum of £1200. We understand th»t it has been purchased for the Now Exchango Company now forming. Active operations will at onco be taken to form the new company, elect oflicers, and push on with the necessary work. All the shares have been taken up, bo that no hindrance need be expected. Bmcur Smile. —A trial, or engineer's start, was made this morning, and was satisfactory. Ten head of stampers were tried, and rang forth their nmsic, for tho tirst time, with the greatest precision and regularity, and are thrown out of gear instantly by means of lever clutch appliance. The battery wUI probably start on the company's stuff on Wednesday. " Ci'RK. —This mine continues to present a good aspect in the stopes and drive ; the latter, however, is the richest part, indicating that the largest amount of gold is to bo obtained from under foot, of which there is probably 200 feet before the leader leaves tho Cure ground. The amount of spciimensAiid picked stone to the present time sinco the fast crushing totals up to 1200 lbs. Weston's Battery (Waiotaiii Cheek). — This mill, having stood for a long time unemployed, is now being dismantled for the purpose of transportation to Waitekuri, Ohinemuri, to be erected by Messrs. Bluazard and Brown, in connection with mines in that locality. The number of stampers pertaining to Weston's mill are twenty.

Rule Britannia (Tairua).— This is a piece of ground pegged off—consisting of IS men's ground, situate about one mile and a-half in a N.E. direction from the Prospectors' claim—and applied for as a lease by Mr. Pulleiue of Grahamstown. Sonic short time since a sample of stone was brought down for testing, being taken out from the faco of a reef at creek level. A drive of a few feet having been cut, without wall on either side (in the bed of the creek the reef shews for 20 feet wide), and on crushing 19 dwts. at the Prince Alfred battery, a. button of gold was retorted, which ou melting gave the satisfactory yield of 1 ozs. u dwts.

Central Italy.—The directors, finding it impossible to get a meeting of shareholders to consider the state of matters connected with this property have, with the view of maintaining the ground by placing workmen thereon, made a call of Is per scrip on the new issue, payable on the 11th of August.

The Only CiiANcn. —The shareholders of this valuable claim, Messrs. Joseph I.etham and Thomas Boyle, have just completed a crushing of 45 tons at the Bedford battery, ilapc Creek. The first portion of this crushing was put through a. week since, when \M tons yielded SI oz.«. 2 dwts. gold, but was unavoidably stopped on account of the roadway being blocked up. This was supplemented by 14 tons yielding - 2t'i ozs., anil 14 ozs. additional from specimens out of the lot, making the total retorted gold 121 ozs., which, ou melting, gave the line return of 1 IS ozs. 7 dwts.
