The business of the Parliamentary session has scarcely commenced, but the Mining on Private Property Bill has been introduced, and a motion for the reduction of inland ixistage discussed, and withdrawn. The Treasurer stated that the present loss on inland jKistage is £10,000. The Government intend submitting a resolution relative to the annexation of New Guinea by the Imperial Government. It is probable an expedition will proceed from Melbourne shortly. An outbreak of typhoid fever has occurred at Kew. Several deaths have taken place. Thos. McKellar having resigned his seat in the Council, .Samuel Wilson, of Ereildourie, is a candidate. A quack doctor named Boltcrill has been lined for practising without a qualification. SYDNEY", May 29. The steamer New England went ashore yesterday, near Clarence Heads. Tenders for the Californian Service are invited up to the 10th of June. The defective railway iron imported is causing a great loss to the colony, and proceedings will probably be taken against the contractors in England. Lurline won the Queen's Hundred, in Adelaide, easily. A "no confidence" motion in Adelaide resulted iu a defeat of the Government last niyht, by a majority of four. Latest accounts from the Palmer are very good. Whites and Chinese are doing well. In some cases the Chinese are making J oz. to 1 oz. per day from ground left by the whites. The steamer Killarney arrived from Hong Kong, with 500 Chinese. Others are announced.
