Sin, —A leader appearing in this rnoning's Southern Cross, containing reflections on this bank consequent on a statement alleged to have l>eon made by Mr. Murdoch, to the effect that its resident chief officer had admitted the receipt of instructions directing the withdrawal of £-200,000 of the capital now employed by it in the colony, I would b<?g the favour of being allowed through you columns most positively to contradict such statement in all respects ; no instructions of such a character (which, indeed, would bo altogether foreign to our policy) having been received at all, nor any assertion to the effect attributed to him, made by the officer in question, whose telegram authorising this distinct denial is annexed.— I am, &c, J.
