AUCKLAND DIOCESAN SYNOD.

Wednesday, Octoiser 2S. The luel:i\- t the Synod for the diocese of Auckland met in Council at tlie Bishop's Library, Parnell, this afternoon. The following members were in attendance : —Clergy : The Right liev. Dr. Cowie (president), Ven. Archdeacons Clarke, Maunsell, aud Pr : tt; Revs. F. T. Baker, Bates, Brady, Burrowes, Dudley.. Gould, Hassard, Kidd, Kinder, Nelson, Taylor. Laity : Messrs. Adams, Boardman, Doonin, Oyer, Dyson, Dr. Goldsbro', Cordon, Colonel Ilaultain, Hesketh, Hughes, Jackson, T. Kissling, W. 11. Kissliug, Luke, 11, 13. Lusk, Mc Kins try. Pierce, Power. Tisdall, Upton, Viekers, Williams, and Yonge. Prayer having been read by the President, the minutes of the previous meeting were read, amended, and confirmed. REPORTS. A report on the Pailiaia European Endowment Fund was laid on the table. THE STANDING COMMITTEE.

Dr. Kinder moved, "That seeing that statute 2 section II of the General Syuocl provides that every Act of the Diocesan Synod shall be asseuted to by the Bishop of the dioeeso and by a majority of the clergymen, and by a majority of the Synodsmen present in person at a duly constituted meeting, that the following words be entered in the minute-book after the minutes of October 20 :—' The Ilev. Dr. Kinder protests against the confirmation of the minutes of the 2Gtli of October, upon the ground that all those gentlemen who are recorded on those minutes as being electcd members of the .Standing Committee did not receive a majority of the votes of both orders of clergy and laity present in the Synod on that occasion, and that the Standing Committee was not therefore duly elected.' The informality he complained of was that the number of persons voting had not been recorded by the secretaries, and that a majority of the clergy had not voted for the election of one member to' the Standing Committee. — Mr. Cordon seconded the motion.—After considerable discussion, the mover stated that his object, the consideration of the question raised, having been attained, lie withdrew his motion, with the permission of the Synod, all notieo of the protest to be omitted from the minutes. The clauses of the report having been read in committee, progress was reported.—Mis Lordship commended the carrying out of the suggestions in the report for the support of the fund to the consideration of the members or the Synod. VOTES OF THANKS. Upon the motion of -dr. Luke, thanks were accorded to -Mrs. Cowie for the tea kindly provided for the members of the Synod.—Mr. Gordon moved a vote of thanks to the proprietors of the newspapers for the reports published of the proceedings of the Synod.—This motion was carried nan. con. liis Lordship said : We give our thanks cordially to the reporters. Ido not think that the proceedings of the Synod have ever been more correctly reported. The Doxology having been sung, the Bishop pronounced the benediction, and announced the prorogation of the Synod.
