Machinery. -yALYELESS STEAM ENGINES AND PUMPS. IJII'LE, STIIOXCI, DOEABIE, AND ECONOMICAL. FRASER & TINNE Have purchased in England, and have secured by LETTERS PATENT in .\K\V ZEALAND AND AUSTRALIA, the Kight to Manufacture, Import, Sell, and Licence to Use, in the whole of the AUSTRALIAN COLONIES, the very simple and efficient macliine known as ROBERTSON'S PATENT VALVELESS ENGINES AND PUMPS, and are prepared to supply them for all PURPOSES to which STEAM POWER CAN BE APPLIED, of any size, power, or design. The peculiarity of this invention is that ALL COMPLICATED PARTS ARE DONE AAV AY "WITH. The ENGINE has NO SLIDE-VALVE, VALVEGEAR, NOR ECCENTRIC, and the PUMP has no VALVES. It is consequently almost IMPOSSIBLE for them to GET OUT OF ORDER, and by their use a great SAVING is eflected in the matter of REPAIRS, They fire made for ordinary POWER ENGINES, WATER-LIFTERS, BLOWERS for BLAST FURNACES, C.AS-RXHAUSTERS, HOISTING ENGINES, DONKEY FEED-PUMPS for BOILERS, &c., &c., and can be made to work exhaustively, or with high and low-pressure cylinders, and condensing. When once CORRECTLY MADE they can be WORKED in ANY POSITION, UPSIDE DOWN, SIDEWAYS, or UPRIGHT, so that they can often be fixed in very much less room than an engine that must be in the position that it was constructed for.

rINGE'S PATENT "ONE PIECE" ENGINE Is a modification of the above, suited for pumping only, where nc power is required to be transmitted to other machinery, its peculiarity being that it has, in Engine and Pump combined, ABSOLUTELY ONLY ONE WORKING TAUT. FRASER AND TINNE are now adding largely to their premises and machinery, having secured WATERSIDE ALLOTMENTS, securely protected from the weather, whore STEAM VESSELS can •omc. ALONGSIDE the workshops or repairs, can liavo their BOILERS LIFTED OUT OR IN, directly from the Boiler-shop, by POWERFUL SHEER LEGS and GEAR, or, when necessary, can be laid on tha " GRIDIRON" for cleaning, examining the screw anc; shaft, &c. They are now erecting a powerful STEAM KIVETTING MACHINE for MAKING BOILERS, GIRDERS, BRIDGE-WORK, &c., by tho use ol' which a firmer joint is secured, and the iron less injured than by the constant hammering of baudrivetting.
