The business before the House of Representatives to-day was merely formal, and the House adjourned till 2.30 p.m. on Monday, when Parliament will be prorogued. THE IMMIGRANTS' PETITION. The Publie Works and Immigration Committee, to which the petition of certain immigrants. claiming exemption from the payment of their promissory notes to the Government, was referred, have reported,—that while it is expedient that individual cases of hardship arising from sickness or other exceptional causes should be relieved by the extension of timo of jiayment or otherwise, the committee see no reason to recommend any general release of the petitioners frem their obligations.
