THE MARKET EXHIBITION.
To the Editor of IIieHEBAED. Sin, —As one of the exhibitors, let me thank you for the evident care which your reporter has bestowed oil his account of the exhibition. Ho has very properly observed that certain exhibits were far more useful than some that were so ornamental. The judges, however, seem to have thought the useful—in my case, of paper bags, tvn article of every-day consumption, and of which I have made some hundreds of thousands, to the satisfaction of my customers, —worthy of no notice whatever. We ought not, lam sure, to begrudge amateur workers their meed of pruise, or a prize for their ornamental work ; but I think tradesmen in general will agree with me, that we cannot be too careful to conserve the interest of those who, like myself, in the face of imported goods and an adverse tarilT, strive to carry on a local industry, and meet an acknowledged want.—l am., &e., Ekedk. W. Stbetton, 160, Grey-street.
