VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.

The final competition for the possession of tho champion belt of the Auckland Rifle Brigade took place at tho Mount Eden Rifle-range, yestarday morning. The weather was all that could be desired, and a keen contest for the possession of the belt took place, as will be seen by the appended scores. Tho winner of the belt was Volunteer J. May, of No. 3 Company, with a score of 67 points, beating the present holder of tho belt, Corporal W. •Partington, by one point only. Ho was also closely pressed by Captain A. Morrow, of No. 4 Company, who made a fine score of 6t points. The ranges were 200, 400, and 500 yards, seven shots at each range. The following is the score :—

The members of the Naval Company held a special meeting ill the Princes-street DiillBlied, last evening. Captain L-Roy informed the company that the Government had altered the designation of the corps to the Auckland Naval Volunteer Brigade. It was also resolved that the corps should go to the Thames on the Queen's Birthday, if tho holiday was to be kept up on Monday. The corps were then drawn up, and put through a number of marching and wheeling evolutions, and also through the skirmishing drill, which were very well gone through. The Engineers and Cadets met for their usual weekly drill last evening. Thero was a splendid muster of both Lho men and boys. They were exercised iu the platoon exercises, forming square, skirmishing, and other drills, which were very well gone through. Tho name of tho No. 1 Company Naval Volunteers has been altered to tho Auckland Naval Volunteer Brigade. Tho resignatiou of Lieut. Somnierville, of No. 1 Company A.U.8., has been accepted. Second-Lii utenant George Powley, Auckland Artillery Volunteers, is gazetted as dismissed from tho Volunteer force, for using improper language to his superior officer. The Oneluinga Rifle Volunteer Cadet Corps is gazetted as discontinued.
