Tenders. 'AUOK LA N D WAT ER SUPPLY. City Council Office, Auckland, May 20, 1573. Tenders, to be accompanied by Plans, Sections, and Specifications, will bereceivd till Two p.m. on MONDAY, Ist December proximo, for the Construction of Waterworks for the City of Auck'and, to supply not less than one million (1 000,000] gallons per d y by gravitation, from the Nihotopu River, distant some sixteen miles from the city. Separate Tenders are invited for the Construction of the Distributing Reservoir to coutain five million (5,000,000) gallons. Separate Tenders are invited for Providing and Laying City Mains and Service Pipes so far as may jj deemed necessary at date of acceptance of tender. Separate Tenders, Plans, &c., are imlted for the Construction, Working, and Maintenance in good Impair for a term of Ten Years of Works which shall supply by pumping not less than one million (1,000.000) gallons per day to the Distributing Reservoir either from the source known as the Onehunga Springs or that known as the Western Springs. Tenders will not include the amount of compensation to be paid to landowners and others, as this will be otherwise ascertained. Such surveys, plans, sections, estimr.t"*', Slc., rs have already beeu prepared at. the expense of the Provincial Government and of the Corporation will be placed at the disposal of tenderers. Such additional surveys as may be necessary to enable persons to tender for the Gravitation Works to the Distributing Reservoir must be prepared at tho expense of the tenderers themselves; and in case of the non-acceptance of the tenders for these works which shaU in the opinion of the Council be bona fide and the most favourable, a sum of £-100 be paid to tho tenderer. The tender, plans, specifications, &c., for which the above-mentioned sum of £100 shall be paid shall become the property of the Council. Tenderers for the Gravitation Works shall be at liberty to select any route which may appear to them most favourable either for that portion of the work which may involve tunnelling or for an aqueduct to an intermediate reservoir, or for the l ? ne of pipe 3 to tho distributing reservoir. Each tender must be accompanied by a deposit of £1,000 as a guarantee that the work will be proceeded with if the Council accept the tender. The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
