WEST COAST GOLD MINING COMPANY (LIMITED).

To the Editor of the Hkbald. Sib, —In the notice which appeared in your paper of the 19i.1i instant, about the West Coast Gold Mining Couipauy (Limited), were some errors, which, as they are likely to mislead the public, I wish to correct. With regard to Mr. Langford having entered the protest against the directory, it was not done iu a. captious spirit, but at the request of the majority of the shareholders ie poiut of value, as they considered that the directors were acting irregularly, and to the prejudice of the mine, by etopping the -work immediately after gold was struck in the Beehive leader: having done so without having held a directors' meeting, and also oa account of the little interest they took in the mine, as shown by the difficulty which there was in getting them to attend the meetings or to visit the mine, —two of them having visited the uiiue once, and one not at all during their term of office. The present action was not taken to prevent the ground being let on tribute, for all were agreed aa to the advisability of letting that part of the mine, but as that tribute had been already thrown up by another party, opening the tenders was not thought of suflicieut consequence to warrant the delay of the protest being presented. Instead of the amount stated in your notice as expended iu labour, only about £1300 has been spent, for which about 1600 feet of driving, &c, has been done, including a low level drive of 6SO feet, much of which was through bad blasting country, and about 450 tons of quartz broken out. A requisition has been signed requesting the secretary to call a meeting at an early date to elect director.*, and to consider the future working of the mine.—l am, &e., Chas. Coopeb, The only director iu office.
