AMUSEMENTS.
Pbince of "Wales Theatbe.—The popularity of Professor Haselmayer is, as we predicted rapidly on the increase. No person can see the extraordinary performances of this gentleman without speaking of them in the highest terms of praise. They are refincl ia the extreme, and the Professor being a tliorouoh gentleman and possessed o , a pleasing flow'of conversation, leaves a most favourable impression. Last evening we were glad to see a capital attendance to every part of the house, the dress circlee especially being well tilled! A number of new tricks were introduced, and the entire eutertainraeut passed olf with great eclat. The Professor appeared in a new light, and fully proved himself to be a fine musician. He performed several selections of difficult music upon the pianoforte. A novel feature of the musical part of the programme was the playing on the piano with an ordinary scrubbing brush. With this common but useful article he rendored the Carnival of Venice, with variations, with great effect. To-day there will be two performnnces—one in the afternoon, and one in tho evening. The prices of admission to the afternoon performance, we observe, havo been reduced to threo shillings, two shillings, and one shilling. As to-day brings the engagement of Profossor Haselmayer to a close, there will, doubtless, be a good attendance, both in the afternoon and in the evening.
<Jrrr Hall. —This evening Mr. J.P. Uvdes, the popular comedian, who has now been connected with the drama of Auckland for several years, will take a farewell benefit at the City Hall, previous to his departure for
the South. He will be assisted by a number of brother professionals, among them being Signor Donato, the wonderful one-legged dancer. Miss .Flora Anstead will also make her last appearance in Auckland upon this occasion. As Mr. Ilydes has long been a universal favorite there will doubtless be a crowded houpe.
