WAIUKU.

Agricultural Association Snow.—Yesterday the third show of the above association took place in the Sale Yards and in the Agricultural Ilall. The weather had been Terv

unpropitious for the occasion all the week, and jesterday it was blowing n hurricane, with occasional heavy showers of rain. The entries were not so numerous as on the last occasion, but that was principally on account of the very dry season wo havo had. Some very good horses were shown. In cattle there ■was not a large show, but some fair beasts were exhibited, particularly the short horns bull Lord Kapier, bred by Captain Carlise, and the property of Mr. W. J. Harris. We next come to tho sheep, which were, generally speaking good. There were twenty-two entries in this class, and there was some difficulty in awarding some of the prizes. In pigs the entries were few, but those shown were of excellent quality. There are pigs in this district not to be beaten in the province. In tho Hall,' farm produco was exhibited. There was good competition in winter wheat, grass seeds, and potatoes, there being eighteen' entries in the latter. The spectators were not so numerous as usual on such occasions, but that was owing to the rough weather. The judges for live Bteck were W. T. Bassett, George liawke, and John Udy. For farm produce, John May (of Panmure), W. J. Harris, aid C. T. Hosting. The judges, I believe, gave general satisfaction. Hosking, Vice-President, tho vice-chair. On the cloth beiim removed, the usual loyal and patriotic toasts were drunk with cheers. Mr. E. As regards the stock, he thought there was some improvement. The horses he could not say much for, yet there was one that took a prize at the first show which was thrown out altogether this time, and that showed improvement. The cattle was not so good as he should have liked to have seen, exceptingonefkurt-horn bull, which was really a valuable animal. The bull he referred to was "Lord Napier," bred by Captain Carlisle. Tho sheep were fair

particularly the lamb?, and the pigs were excellent. He thanked them eordiallv for tlio maimer in which they had drank his health. —-MY. John Udy also responded.—Captain Harris, as one of thejudges for farm and dairy produce, said the wheat was not first-cla?s, but that might be attributed to the very dry season. The entries were numerous, which showed that several parties had grown wheat this season. The barley was not so wood as he should have liked to have ■ seeQ it. Oats were fair. i_.: ■ seed was really splendid, and he thought could not be beaten. A sample of clover, shown by Douglas Brothers, of Pehiakura, deserved great praise. The potatoes were also Tery good. The show of fruit was small. The butter was good, but the salt, butter that did not get a prize was as good as any of it, but had not salt enough.— Mr. Bassett proposud " The health of the Successful Competitors."— Air. Constable responded, and said ho would rather have been an unsuccessful competitor, lie should feel proud of the district if his neighbours had better stock than himself.— Mr. C.
