THAMES COAL.
To the Editor of the Hebald. Sir, —We notice in your " Home Letter" of your issue of this day, a statement to this effect: —"The coal seams on the Thames River have been roughly explored, but do not appear to come up to the anticipations that had been formed of them." We beg to give this statement a flat contradiction. Tho coal seams at the Thames have been examined by competent persons, and far exceed the anticipations that had been formed of them. We
aro tho purchasers of the block of land on which this coal is situated, and a company is being formed in England for the purpose of working it, and we hope to be in a position to supply the Thames in six months.
Seeing that several parties of long colonial experience have gone into the matter, and invested their money, sanguine of success, wo are surprisod that you should attempt to throw cold water on an undertaking which will bring a large amount of capital into the country, and the results of which will be so beneficial to the province generally.—We are, &c.,
Pbeece and Git a hah. Vaile's Buildings, Feb. 21, 1872.
