THE WHALING COMPANY.

The half-yearly meeting cf this company was held on the 31st Jan., at the oflioe of tho secretary, Captain Cinyton, Insurance Buildiugs. Mr. J. iS. Macfariane occupied the chair. There was a vory good -attendance of sharehoidera. —The Chairman slated that there was no business to bring before the shareholders, but it was necessary to hold the meeting, in accordance with the Act.—A lelter was read from Captain Thomas, dated from Kew Bedford, in America, stilting tho cost of buying and fitting-out a vessel on a four-years cruise for the Auckland Whaling Company. This would be about 25,000 dollars, or, £5000. — The shareholders were of opinion that a vessel could be purchased and fittetf-out at Honolulu for much less money, Honolulu beiug a great whaling-station, where there were always vessels ueiw; sold off ..fier discharging thiir oil—The Chairman stated that vhe Albion had been spoken with lately, ard was reporred to have 500 or 600 barrels of oil on board. There was an overdraft at tho bunk of £956, but this could stand until the return of the A bion which was expected in April next The shin and the oil were both insured.
