SHOOTING MATCH.

Thames Scottish v. Captain Waleb's (Otaoo) Cojtpany. —The Thames Scottish team mustered at Xararu Butts on Saturday afternoon, to fire the simultaneous match arranged to take place between theT.S.V. and Captain Wales'a (Otago) Company. The diy w»s very fine, indeed rather too fine, for the sun shone in such a manner as to make a stroDg glare off the water, which materially interfered with the scoring of some of tho men who are usually the best markemen.

There was also a variable wind aud a high tide when the match commenced, but, on the whole, the shooting was creditable. Ensign Stewart, who is usually a safe and excellent shot, fired under peculiar disadvantages, for a splinter of eteel had got into his right eye, and li.id to bo extracted with the point of a penknife on the "round. ColourSergeant SchoQeld and Sergeant Bnod»rass (the latter of whom Ins qualified himself to compete for the Colonial prizes) were singularly unfortunate. Sergeant Campbell a°nd Captain Murray both made excellent scores of 41 ench, although the latter commenced rather jaauspieioiisly with a miss. Tue return match is, we believe, to be fired on Saturday next, .it Pumwai. We append the scores :— •Serjeant Campbell, -11; Captain ilurray, 41 ; Volunteer Partington, 38 ; Volunteer Burns, 37; Volunteer Sharp, 36; Volunteer Girvau, 32 ; Volunteer Wilson, 30; Stewurt 2G; Colour-Sergeant Sehoiield, 24 j Sergeant Suodgrass, 24.
