PRINCE OF WALES THEATRE.

Notwithstanding tile very inclement weather last evening, there was a good attendance at this theatre to witness the astounding performances of Professor Haselmiyer. I his gentleman has a most pleasing style with him, which at once places him en rapport with his audience ; mid while he is astonishing all beholders by his wonderful sleight-of-hand tricks, he is at the same time amusing the audience by his ready ilow of language." An excellent band does much towards the success o-f the performance. One K reafc (eature of the Professor's entertainment is that there is no paraphernalia whatever used, everything bu-ini as plain us it can be to the audience, who, while they fancy they can see through everything, are utterly lost in bewilderment. Last evening a number of neiv tricks were introduced, with the most unqualified success, and rounds of applause greeted the conjuror at the conclusion of every pieoo of legerdemain. Tho birds, as upon the previous evening, astonished the audience by their intelligence, while the goblin drum absolutely umazei all beholders by the rapidity and correctness with which it answered all sorts of difficult problems. One gentleman, somewhat incredulous as to the powers of this drum, wrote a number of figures upon u, small piece of paper, which he put carefully in his pocket without allowing any person to see it, yet the correct answer was given in it few seconds. The facility with which the professor caught half-crowns and five shilling pieces frTun the air, from hats, hair, and whiskers, creatod much amusement. The last trick of the evening, that of mixing and unmixing wine and water from an ordinary decanter, fairly caused the audience to applaud to the very echo. There is no doubt that Professor Haselmiiycr is fully equal to Heller, if indeed lie is not liis superior, in the art of ledgerdemuin, and we hope to see him liberally supported during his stay in Auckland. Tonight another change of programme is announced.
