VOLUNTEER INTELLIGENCE.
COMMISSARIAT STAFF CORPS. Ax adjourned meeting of persons favourable to the formation of a Commissariat Staff Corps was held last evening, at the Belfast Hotel, Princes-street. Major Ibbetson was Toted to the chair, afler which the minutes of the las'; meeting were read and confirmed. The fo! lowing letter was read to the meeting by the secretary : —" Militia and Volunteer Office, Wellington, 18th July, 1871. —Sir, —l havf the honor to acknowledge the receipt of yoi letter No. 157, of Ist June, enclosing orres pondence relative to the formation of a corps who desire to be called ' The Auckland Commissariat Corps of Volunteers.' I amd i-ected by the Hon. Mr. M'Lean to request that you will convey the thanks of the Government to the gentlemen who have offered their services in this proposed corps, at the same time informing tbem 1 that the Government do not think it expedient at present to accept the services of any corps under any other conditions than those laid down in the Volunteer Regulations of the Act of 1870.'—1 am, &c., (Signed) Philip Haringcon, Lieut.-Colonel, Inspector of Militia and Volunteers.—Majc. Gordon, Commanding Militia District, Auckland."—The meeting then adjourned unti' Wednesday evening nest, when a full attendance is requested.
