Xghtingale Edward Isaacs C. Darnedt. GENTLEMEN", — I Imve much pleasxirc in complying with your flattering request. I will take an early opportunity of addressing you. 1 am, gentlemen, Yours faithfullv, JULIUS VOCEL. Auckland, October IS, IS7O. TO THE ELECTORS OP CITY EAST. GENTLEMEN,—On my return from the country this afternoon I saw, for the first time, the Requisition from certain Electors of the CPv East, tasking the lion. Julius Vogel to become a Candidate for that district. 1 have for some time been of opinion that Mr. Vogul should re-present a constituency in the Province of Auckland, and, seeing there is a scarcity of suitable men willing to undertake such duties, I did not think he would experience much difficulty in securing a seat. Believing this, and being also under the impression that I retained the general confidence o£ my constituents, and in view of 11 the circumstances, I thought it was my tint'.' to offer myself for re-election. There are many names to the Requsition upon whose support 1 calculated in the event of a poll ; and whilst I am aware that not a few of them were put down inconsiderately, yet, " N hat is writ if? writ," and accepting the inevitable position, I now withdraw. On personal grounds, it is just where I wish it to be. It was not a search after pleasure which took rac three or foui .nonths in the year from home : nor am I aware that any one charges me A'ith a «iesire to make a seat in the House subservient to the attainment o£ objects even less worthy, I am, Gentlemen, yours truly, ARCfI. CLARK. Remucra, October 19, IS7O. TO Tl-IK TCTifiOTONS OF AUCKLAND CITY "WEST. Gentlemen,—I beg respectfullv to offer myself as a CANDIDATE for the Representation of your District in the forthcoming Parliament of New Zealand. Should you do me the honor of again electing me as one of your Representatives, I snail endeavour to assist in carrying out such measures as will best promote the interest and welfare of Auckland and the Colonv.—l am, gentlemen, yours. &c\, P. DIGNAN". TO THE ELECTORS OF AUCKLAND CITY WEST. Gbn'tljKMun,--I beg to inform you that it is ray intention to present myself, on the day of nomination, as a candidate for re-election to a seat for your District in the next -lifth) Parliament of the General Assembly. —I have the honor to be, Gentlemen, your obedient servant, J.
