POLLY PLUM.

[Per favor of the Herald.]

Sib, —What in the name of wonder has Polly been saying lately ? I think it's something about " Woman and her Master;" but certainly Polly has not been properly taughlj or I »m very dull to catch her sayings. Although I've heard and seen many speak, dance, and sing, but I must own they were nearly like this one—good at oi:c thing, btul at another, —but altogether they knew nothing about what they were trying to say. >"ow, admitting this Polly to have had more pains taken to teach her, and she is endeavouring to say something new, I would ask—not knowing that I understand Polly aright —does .-bi> mean to say that men and women ought to K" machines made by and to be worked airording to her Wring? If so, I am in a mare to know what sort of oil she would recoinineml to keep said machinery from rust; or doc? Polly n-ean that men are absolute brutes and women angels, and would wish to change places? Would that mend matters? I rather think not. If I was going to teach a Polly, I should hold forth to ber that it is woman makes the man, and man certainly is not a brute, although he can bo made to appear very near one. I fancy this Polly, although she has a plum—l hope it's not a rotton one—is like all I ever heard, they trill invariably pick up any little vulgar twaddle that passers-by say to them. I trust that the next time I hear her she will have learnt better. —Yours, &c, Air Ixseectop, qf Toi.ts.
