He]visited the Kaimana-wa ranges along with Mr. Bracken, the first discoverer, and they obtained some specii ™s from the "Wanganui prospecting party, w h ■will be sent to Dr. Hector to be analysed. Mr. TifTeu also sends some specimens obtained from the Hawke's Bay prospectors. A contract has been made with Poihipie's natives, to form a dray road -between Runanga and Topuaeharuru, a distance of some fifty miles, for £450. This is the first step towards opening up the interior of the island. Tc Kooti's whereabouts is not known, but he is supposed to be near Tuhua. Hokitika, November 28. The s.s. Rangitoto arrived tliis morning. She left Melbourne just as the arrival of the English mail at Adelaide was telegraphed. Nf.lsox, November 27, 1.5 p.m. LEVIN" V. BEAUMONT. The jury retired at 11.25 last night. After three hours' deliberation they were unable to arrive at a verdict. Klevcn were forplaintill - , with nominal damages ; one for defendant. Eventually they were dismissed, each side paying its own costs.
