SOCIAL MEETING OF PRESBYTERIAN SABBATH SCHOOL TEACHERS.
THE teachers of St. James', St. Andrew's and the Parnell Presbyterian Sunday Schools held a tea meeting in St. James' School-room, Wellington-street, on Friday last. About 40 teachers sat clown to a tea which was proTided in an excellent manner, and was ably superintended by Mesdames R. jr. Macniccol and A. Stewart/and Misses F. and C. Oxley, Miss Dingwall and Miss Pollock. After the tea table wa s cleared, light refreshments were spread, and the Eev. D. Bruce took Iks chair. Ihe meeting was addressed by the Rev. K. F. Macniccol, Messrs. T. Mac/farlane, T. Peacock, P. Maekic, G. Sibbin, K. Le Roy, J. Alexander, A. Stewart, and other teachers. The system of training adopted in the various schools was discussed and many usef.,l suggestions thrown | out for their better management, during the course of the remarks made by the various speakers; several by,,,,,, werc t))c harmonium being ably presided over by Miss Sinclair, and the benediction, which was pronounced shortly after 10 o'clock bv the Rev. E. F. Macniccol, brought an eieeedim'lv pleasant gathering to a close. ° " One of the purposes for which the meetiii" had been initiated was to decide upon the most suitable spot for holding the annual children's fete, and it was agreed that it should be held at Riverhead. A resolution was moved to the effect that similar meetings be held quarterly but negatived, many of the teachers appearing to think that an united meeting of the teachers of the schools could not be conveniently held oftener than once a year. We think however that were meetings of this kind made a little lighter by the introduction : of secular music, Jand the omission of lonndry speeches, they would be made more I agreeable and would meet with a more cordial support from the teachers as a body. !
