ALEXANDRA.
[PBOK OUB OffS OOBRhBPOHDKNT.] ■ . May 10. T thank in my last communication T forgot to mention that none of the extreme section of the Kmgitei snch as Kereopa, Tikackao, Rehana, \Vetero and Co. were present at the late meeting at Hahgatiki; there were very few known to the friendliea, their faces having been by rubbing on kokowai, &o. The king merely said a few words of welcome, but amoagss such a great crowd, ns my informant said, his voice could ba heard but hii face not seen. Such an assembly of nrmed nativeß, with merely a pureko tied round their waists,'was & sight whioh our friendlies had nut seen for many a long day. The women who could muster dre&ges wore-them, but a large number wore the same kind of oostume as the men j they all sewed badly.off for European clothing, for as the friendliea were leaviag there was a rush to get what clothing they could from them, such as blankets, shawls, bhirts, &0., which of course could not be refuiei. /fhe Queenites were generally very well satisfied with their reception, &c., but they would have liked to have known a little more of the viaws of the king in reference to The 26th of April last will long be remembered by all those who" took a qart at that great meet ng. Kewi addressed Mr. b'earancke, E.M., but, that gentleman did not make any reply, the reason for his reticence lamat a loss to conceive. Te Rauparaha and Hoheps, who oama up from Wellington last month, went up in company with Wi.Patene, of Karakariki, to see the King on Tuesday last; they returned on the Thursday following and prooeeded to Hamilton on their way to Auckland, liewi and others consented to oime down to Ngaraawahia to meet the Prince should he contemplate Uiting the Waikato. I also heard before Wi Patene's return that tho King would come down to Ta Kopua-with. his people should Big Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh wish to see him. I trust we shall have timely notice Uere of the Royal visitor's intention.
