Duthie ; the remit being that her copper was fouud to be a good deal damaged; her bilge planking and garboard strake on the Btarboard eids started, and her main sail torn. A. bill to the amount of £40, at which the damages have been estimated, has therefore bean sent in to the master of ihes-hooner Margaret, through whoao action tho injuries occurred. Coquette. — The schooner Coquette, Captain Mathieson, arrived in harbour yesterday from Napier, via Poverty Bay. The Coquette shipped a full cargo of cattle at Poverty Bay, but unfortunately, .in consequence of the heavy wcithcr experienced, 15 of the cattle died during the passage.

J.he evidence was that Bray had shipped in England as a cook; that tho capta n had, after he had been a few days on board, turned him out of the ga'ley, saying that he waa dirty ; that the captain and second mate had rope's-ended him almost every d«.y; that the 3econd mate had him turned out of the forecastle; thi\t his rations of beef, sugar, and flour, were stopped by the second mate ; that he had been turned in to sleep beside the pig, where the sea, coming in at times through the hawse-holes, could wash over him j that be had bad a capstan-bar tied behind his back, and a stiff leathern collar put around hie neck; and that at length he died, after having been for some time in the lazarette, deranged, bruised, and covered with boils, the effects .of the long protracted and most barbarous treatment which he had suffered from the two prisoners.
