THE RANGARIRI GOLD-FIELD.

We are indebted to a gentleman who came down from Bangiriri by Messrs. Quick aud Co.'s coach on Saturday afternoon, for a very pretty specimen of auriforous quartz from the claim of Mr. Edgcombe and party. The gold can be seen thickly throughout the stone, which we shall be happy to show to anyone at our office. A large meeting had been held at Ngaruawaliia about the middle of last week, at which Mr. Hume presided, when it was unanimously determined that the whole district should be thoroughly prospected. "We are extremely glad to hear that there is such an enterprising spirit amongst our Wuikato neighbours, and have no doubt that their exertions will meet with success. There are immense numbers of claims pegged out, and they extend over an area of some miles.
