A SUGGESTION.—THAMES GOLD-FIELDS.

To the Editor of the Herald. Sib, —I am a miner, and, like my mates, often como to Auckland to upend my money, see my friends, and enjoy myaelf, but when I am away I am always anxious ai to what my claim is doing,—whether having a chance to sell I should be justified, not 1 knowing what the reefs were turning out. Now, as there is no regular communication with the Thameß, I would suggest a telegraphio communication between this and Shortland. lam convinced it would pay, and that well. Now is a chance for the Provincial Council. I am told they have wire, and with the assistance of those who inhabit that comf rfcable abode in rho Kyber Pass Boad, they might rig up _ a communication cheap. If th-G-overnment will not take the matter up, and pri vate enterprise doee, they may be aure of the eup poet of the miners.—l am, &c, W.H.O.
