THE CITY BOARD ACT AMENDMENT BILL.
The prorogation of the Council yesterday by proclamation shelves the " City Board Act Amendment Bill," by which £150 per annum, the salary paid to the Chairman of the Board for twelve attendances at its meetings, might have been saved to the ratepayers of the city. That Bill passed through committee with amendments on Thursday, and could not therefore be read a third time the same day. The third reading was ordered for the next sitting day. On the next sitting day, however, the Council is prorogued and the Bill lapses.
