Wheat, that at one time could hardly find a purcha?er at 3s per bushel, is now in great demand at os to 53 6d. This sudden rise has been caused by roports of a short crop throughout Au-ftralia,_ which reports have received authentication by latest intelligence. In imports, beer in wood is difficult to quit except for best brands. Base E. 1. and No 2is quoted from £10 to £10 10b per hlid. Ale in bottle is only in limited enquiry. Porter goce off heavily. Spirits of all torts uro not much sought after. Light wines, as is usual at this season, uro in better demand, and cnsiderable imports of Australian have taken place. These wi-.-ea are very pitlnteuble, and liiely to come into great r.quest. The market is fairly supplied with tens. Sugars were at one time low in stock, but a portion of direct shipment from Mauritius'to Luncdin was tent forward to this market, and met witb. n ready sale at full rates. Pint ales are scarce, and worth fis 9d to Tβ. Metals, -with the exception of bar, rod, and sheet iron, and sweating copper, stocks ere ample and prices unaltered. Oils. —The market has recently improved for_ all descriptions, but as soon ns the package duty expires a slight decline is looked for. Colza is quoted at os 6d to 6s, linseed 4a 9d to 5s 3d. O ;, men's Store'.—The market is dull, ind stocks increasing. A few small sales have been made privately at fair rates, but auction rates are unsatisfactory to importers. Kice.—Further email ehipment3 from Melbourne have supplied the market for the present; amallsales of patna have been made at £32 10s to £33.

Salt.—All descriptions are held for an advance. Coarse liyerpool has been eeliinsr at 90s to 92s 6d ; Gne, 95a. Speculators cleared the market of rock, and for small lots, in second hand, £10 has been paid. Sugars.—The expected improvements has been checked by the arrival, during the last few days, of three cargoes from Mauritius and one from Java. Pending public sales, it is impossible to give present irarket values.
