CRICKET.

A rRtENDLT game was played- yesterday affcert^. e , domain between two fonrteens of H.M.S. Falcon. The weather, however, was very unfavorable, but in spite of that between 150.pd 200 people were on the ground. The fielding and play on both sides was extremely good and we especially noticed the bowling of Messrs. Kingswell and Birkenshaw in Kingsland's team and that of .Russell and Pearce in the other team. The batting of Gr. Bnssell, W. Head and Gr. Bicketts was very much admired. lieedin's backstopping and J. JJoberts' wicket keeping shewed men well up to their work. The Captain of Pearce's team, Mr. J. Taylor, was unfortunately taken suddenly ill and was unable to attend. The rain commenced, to come down in earnest at about three o'clock which put a sudden termination to the game. The following is the score as far as the game proceeded:—

At six o'clock the players and their friends met round the social board at Mr. Sceats', British Hotel. About forty sat down to dinner, to which all seemed to do ample, justice. Among the guests we noticed Lieut. Evans, Navigating Lieutenant Buckner, Assistant-Pay-master Higginson, and Mr. Murray, engineer. After cloth was removed the chair was taken by Mr. J. Jones, and the vice-chair by Mr. W. Kingsland. The President of the Club, Mr. Taylor, was, ' as we have before stated, absent in consequence of ill health. His place was, however, very ably filled by Mr. Jones. The first toast of the evening was " The Queen," which was given in appropriate terms by the Chaikjia-N. Drunk with usual honours. Mr. Kingsland then gave- " The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Boyal Family." Song—" The men of merry England," Mr. Jones. The■'Vice-Chaieman next gave, "The health of Captain Blake." Drunk with three cheers and one cheer more. Song—"Bed, white, and blue." The .Chaieman proposed "The Health of the Officers of H.M.S. Falcon." Drunk with three times three. Mr. Evans responded in suitable terms, paying a very neat compliment to the ship's company, who, he said, were the best company that he had ever been associated with since he had been in the service. The game of cricket had been well conducted by Mr. Kingswell since he had been in the snip. He proposed his health and three times three. Song, " For he's a Jolly Good Fellow," Mr. Buckner; " The Suit of Curdoroy," Mr. Higginson ; " The Young English Midshipman," Mr. Tewson; " Sweet Spirit, hear my Prayer Mr. G. Bussell, " The Soldier's. Dream Mr. J. Boberts, " Speak of a Man as you find him." Several songs and toasts followed. Among the toasts were—" The Cricket Clubs," " The Press," " The Visitors," and " The Host and Hostess." The remainder of the evening was spent in a convival manner, the company not separating until near midnight. The whole of the arrangements were under the management of Messrs. Templemore and H. Leeton, and gave universal satisfaction.
