FROM OREGON—WRECK OF THE BARKENTINE W. B SORANTON.

Pobtlaxd, May 8,1807. By the arrival of the steamer Okomangon from Aristoria, lost ovoning, wo have the following account of tho wreck of tho barkentine W. B. Scranton, "Capt. Paul Co mo, from San Francisoo for this port. On Bunday morning she attempted to cross tho bar at tho mouth of tbo Columbia, and whilo in tho passage the wind failed hor and sho drifted helplessly on to tho Spit just inside tho bar, noar whero the Industry was wrecked some years ago. The Scranton had 10 tons of merchandise for this city valued at about 52C0.000 as follows: Knapp, Burrel & Co., goods valued at $30,000 —insured; MoCracken, Morrill & Co., a largo c onsignmont of hme and salt —insured; E. A Hawley and Co., a heavy shipment of hardware and agricultural implements— also insured. Several other firms hsd consignments of more or less value. The vessel was owned by Captain Coino, and valued at £25,000.. About $6,000 wero expended in repairs prior to hor departure for this port. Sho was insured for $9,000. Vessels Sailed.—Tho wind having changod on Saturday last to tho Westward, the following vessels, which have for some days past been lying in harbour windboi.nd, have been enablod to proceed on thoir respective voyages:—Counter Russell, ship, for London; Sea Breeze, schooner, for Russell; Orpheus, cutter, for Coromandel; Don, cutter, for Wangapoa ; Morning Light, cutter, for tho Great Barrier ; Lady Wynyard, cutter, for Napier; Rob Roy, cuttor, for Kennedy's Bay ; ' Cassia, cutter, for tho Barrier ; Argo, schooner, for Wangarei, and several othors. The Countess Russell,—This fino ship, Captain Ponfold, having tho Military Train on board, took her doparturo for Plymouth on Saturday last at noon, and was sighted off Tiri Tiri yesterday morning by H.M.S.S. Esk. Wo heartily wish Captain Penfold, his noblo ship, and the Military Train, a speedy and prosperous passage home. Tiie Speed-wbll.—This favourite ketch, Captain E. Bolgor, arrived in barbour at an early hour yesterday morning, after anothor hplondcd run from Russell via Wangaruru, bringing a cargo of 2 tons kauri gum, several kits of dried fish, &c., also 11 passengers. She loft tho Bay on Friday ovening last, had thick N.E. weather, and owing to the hoavy sea on had to heave-to for the night outside of Wangaruru ; went in at daylight noxt morning, took on board 7 possongers, and loft again for this port at 9 a.m., arriving hero as abovo. Tho Bea Breeze, bound down, was seen off the sail Rock, and a brig, bound here, oil the Hen and Chickens. The Speedwell leaves again for Russell this evening. Tho schooner Mapero, Captain Shipherd, left Wangarei on Saturday night last, and arrived at Konimarama yesterday morning, after a quick run of ten hours; landed her live-stock and then came up harbour. - She brings 8 hoad cattlo, 1 ton salt pork, 30 bushels maizs, half a ton kauri gum, and 5 passengers. She reports the arrival at Wangarei of the p.s. Enterprise No. 2, late on Friday night last. The schooner Hope, Captain Oarlaw, cleared at the customs on Saturday last, for Opotiki, via Wangapoa, with a cargo of bricks, sawn timber, <fec. fahe sails this morning. The schooner Roso Ann, Captain McKeczie, Bailed last night for Wangaparapara, to ship a full cargo of posts and rails for Tauranga. The schooner Mavis, Captain Purchas, took her departure yesterday afternoon, for Tauranga, with a full cargo of general merchandise, &c. The Panama Co.'s s.s. Auckland, Captain Harris, leaveß at noon to-morrow, for Sydney, with the English mail, via J?uez, and several passongers. Tho barquo Island Ci'y, Captain Wolfo, sailed from Gladstone, Queensland, on the 15th inst., for Nelson. The Circular Saw liner, Alice Cameron, Captain Carter, had not Bailed for this port, from Sydney, up to the 24th inst., through the inclemency of the weather. She was to leave next day. _ The cutter Wangarei, Captain Anderson, arrived m _ harbour on Saturday morning last from Wangarei, bringing a cargo of coals, &c. Tlio outter Wanderer, Shoemaker, master, came bp from Coromandel on- Saturday morning, in ballast, bringing Beveral passengers. • '

The cutter Petrel, which left this port on Saturday week last for Coromandel, only arrived at that place on tho following Friday. j The cutter Eclair, Hone, master, Bailed on Saturday last for Kikowakarere, with a cargo of sundries, and 2 passengers. The outter Alacrity, Smith, master, from the Wade, arrived on Saturday last, with produce, &c. Sho leaves again for the same place to-day. The cutter Glance, Dickson, master, sailed for Matakana on Saturday last, with general cargo and pußß'Sngers. - Tho outter Kate, Captain McKenzie, arrived yesterday from Wangarei, via the Tamakl, bringing a cargo of cattle, &o. The schooner Swallow, Captain Hill, sailed on Saturday la6t for the Tairua Saw Mills, with a full cargo of general merchandize, &c. - The cutter Willie Winkie, Yates, master, sailed on Saturday evening last for Wangapoa, with a full cargo of stores, Ac., and several passengers. The cutter Heather Bell, Dam, master, which arrived on Saturday morning last from Mahurangi, with produce, &0., leaves again for that port to-night. A brig was signalled at sunset last evening, but had not fetohed the harbour at a late hour. She is supposed to bo tho Waverley, from Bolivia, with a oargo of guano. The sailing of the schooner Jane, for Poverty Bay, has been postponed until the completion of her overhaul, &o. The schooner Kate Grant, Capt. Matzen, leaves for Wangarei to-day. The p.s. Enterprise No. 2, Captain Davies, may be expected to arrive from Wangarei and Omah this morning. She returns again on Wednesday next. The Circular Saw brig Pakeha, Captain Robinson, was announced in the Sydney papers of the 24th instant a 9 daily expeoted from Melbourne, and to load for this port with, despatch, in lieu of tho Kate. The Panama Co.'s s.s. Egmont, Captain Hall, left Sydney for Hokitika on the 23rd instant.
