PROVINCIAL COUNCIL.
The most interesting, animated, and at the same time the most lengthy debate that has taken place in the Council for many years, occurred yesterday, upon the Government proposals to alter the regulations of the Waste Lands Act. The debate lasted from three o'clock till halfpast eleven o'clock at night. The Government resolutions were carried by a majority of nine, the numbers being for the resolutions eighteen, against them nine. A full report of the proceedings will be found in another column. The Council stands adjourned till Monday next, when the Government will make a financial statement It is expected that this short session will close on Tuesday.
