DRY DOCKS.
To tlio Editor of fie Ne .v Zealand Herald. Sin, —It is usoloss your correspondent " C. E. " in this day's paper ri tint; tlio " Malta, Sydney, or any other Docks." Wo h tvo to deal with the Waitcmata only, and unless circumstances aro precisely similar there can bo no analogy. I quite endorse Mr. Wrigg's sensiblo letter in your impression of yoaterday, ;V'd having some knowledge of tho Liverpool, Chatham, Woohvich and other Docks, I feel quite certain that a prjp"r Graving Dock to meet tho requirements of the Lords of tho Admiralty cannot be constructed unler £200,000 in this locality. After all wo aro reckoning without our host, for if tho works are to bo constructed with a portion of tho money advanced by tho English Government, they and they only, will settle how tho work is to bo done. I quite agree with Mr. Wrigg that su:iio; :nt, accommodation for the mercantile requirements of this Harbour can bo provided for, for about .t'2o,Uoo to £30,000. —I am, &c., Auckland, Juno 18, 1567. 0.E., No. 2.
