Mr. Stark to ask tho Provincial Secretary, If it is the intention of the Provincial Government to station tho Harbour Master and Pilot of Manukau Harbour at Ouehunga, instead of at tho North Manukau Heads. Mr. Wynn to move, For leave to bring in a Bill to amend tlie City Board Act, 1863. Mr. CiATiK to move, That the petition from a meeting lately held in the Chamber of Commerce, and from other colonists, relative to Mr. Busby's claim on tho Government bo referred to a select committee, consisting of Captain Cooper, Mr. Dignan, Mr. Newman, Mr. O'Neill, Colonel Peacocke, Mr. Carleton, and the mover. Mr. Wxxx to move, That a select committee be appointed to enquire into the conduct of Captain Wing, pilot for the port of Onehunga, in reference to the ship Cambodia. Committee to consist of Mr. Gilfillan, Sir. Swans on, Mr. Webster, Mr. Stark, and Mr. O'Neill. Mr. Newman to move, That an address be presented to His Honor the Superintendent requesting that he will furnish to the Council a return of all lands disposed of by the Government in the parishes of Maungatapere, Maungakaramea, Kuarangi, Te Mata, Buakaka, and Waipu, and in such parts of the parishes of Waikiekie, Mareretu, and Wairau, as lie within the boundaries of the purchases made by Mr. Busby from the natives when New Zealand was an independent country, distinguishing those portions of land which were disposed of by free grants from those portions which were sold, and specifying the sums of money received for the same. Brisk, its cordial thanks for the valuable aid he has rendered to the Provincial Government in matters relating to proposed improvements to be made within the harbour of Auckland, as well as for the public testimony he has voluntarily given to its importance and advantages as a maratime port. That an address be presented to His Honor the Superintendent requesting him to transmit a copy of the above resolution to Captain Hope. Mr. O'is'Eiiiii to move, That in the opinion of this Council it is expedient to repeal the existing Appro* priation Act, so that the Council may have an opportunity of recasting the estimates of expenditure, with the view of equalising the expenditure with the probable revenue of the Province. Mr. Gilfillan to move, That this Council do resolve itself into a committee of the whole to consider that part of His Honor (be Superintendent's opening speech relating to the construction of a dry dock in the harbour of Auckland. Captain Cooper to move, That it is the desire of this Council that such alterations shall be made in the Land Regulations as will empower the Superintendent to grant land in lieu of money as payment for the construction of roads, bridges, wharves, &c., to the full estimated value of the works done, instead of the half value allowed by the present law; also that such provision of the Land Regulations may be made to apply to local Boards as well as to individuals. S"-S Mr. Cheighton" to move, That the following papers, presented to the Council reesion XX, 1866, be printed :—(1.) Deport on the State and Progress of the Kailway Works. (2.) Report on the State of the Manukau Harbour. (3.) Heturn of Native Land, the purchase of whiili lias been initiated by the Provincial Government. (4.) First General Report on the Coal Deposits of New Zealand. Mr. Clahk to move, (1.) That be presented to His Honor the Superintendent requesting him to eend down to this ficuncil a return of all past due promissory notes for assisted passages, shewing the names of the makers, the amount of such notes, whether any, and if any, what partial payments have teen made on account of such, promissory notes, and whether any legal proceedings have been taken to enforce payment, and with what result. (2.) A return of all past due bonds for assisted passages, shewing the names of the obligors, the amount due on each bond, whether any, and if any, what partial payments have been made, and whether any legal proceedings have been adopted to recover payment, and with what result. Mr. Wynn to move, That the petition of Joseph Tuckwell and others be referred to a select committee, consisting of Mr. Buckland, Mr. Creighton, Mr. Kerr, Mr. May, and Colonel Peacocke. Mr. Wikn to move, That a respectful address be presented to his Honor the Superintendent, requesting him to forward to this Council all papers connected with or being on the question of the dismissal of Mr. Tuckwell, late gaoler of the Auckland Gaol together with any minutes or memoranda by the Superintendent, or any officer of the Provincial Government, having reference to Mr. Tuckwell'S conduct during the period which he held office. Mr. Cbkighton to move, That an address be presented to His Honor the Superintendent requesting him to send do-*n to thiß Council a nominal return of all officers of the Provincial Government dismissed, or who have received notice of dismissal, up to ,the 15th June instant, showing the salary paid to each and date of appointment.
