Tho fine cattle barquo Island City, Captain Wolfo, arrived at tho Tnmati early on Saturday morning last, bringing a full carcro of cattle, sheep, &c., consigned to Mr. J. S. Macfarlane. The Island City has had a very tedious passage of 28 days, having sailed on tho 7th ultimo, and experienced nothing but easterly weather throughout. Sighted the Three Kings on the 23ril, and had a succession of light winds and calms on tho coast. After discharging her livo stock the Island City will come up harbour to take in stores, &c., preparatory to sailing again for Brishane. ARRIVAL OF THE PAKEHA. Tho " Circular Saw" liner Pakeha, Capt. Robinson, arrived in harbour at an early hour on Saturday morning last, from Adelaido, bringing a cargo of 251 tons wheat, consigned to Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane; also tho following passengers— Mr. William Noild, Mrs. Robinson. Tho Pakeha left Adelade on tho 27th March, experiencing strong easterly winds throughout the passage ; sighted tho Three Kings on tho 23rd lilt., and was bnflled on tho coast for eloven days, arriving i.i harbour at 3 a m. on Saturday. The brig Alexandra, Captain Stephenson, arrived in harbour on Saturday last, aftor a most lengthonorl and tedious passage of fifty days from Adelaide, bringing a full cargo of wheat and flour, consigned to Messrs. Thornton, Smith, and Firth. She left Adelaido on tho 15th March, and experienced nothing but easterly winds throughout; on tho 9th, XOth, and 11th April encountered a heavy KE. gale, during which she was liovo to. Sighted the Threo Kings on tho 23rd ultimo, and was baffled on tho coast for thirteen days. Tho only ve«sol sighted was the barqug Tslaud Ci'.y, bound hero, off the North Cape, on Tuesday week last. ARRIVAL OF THE ATLANTIC. The fino barque Atlantic, Captain T. G. Kelly, arrived in harbour late on Saturday night last, from tho Hoiiritius, after a most protracted passago of 80 days, bringing ft cargo of 5812 bags sugar, consigned to Messrs. Cruickshank, Smart and Co. Tho Atlantic's lengthened passago is entirely owing to the continued prevalence of light and baffling winds. She left Port Louis on tho 13th February, and had nothing but a continued succession of Easterly wiDda and calms for over 50 days. In running down her longitude, when strong westerly breezes should have prevailed, a continuation of easterly and E.Jf.E. winds were experienced. Sighted Kangaroo Island on the 2rith March, rounded Capo Otway on tho 30th, and was detained eight days in tho Straits by calms and light weathor; after that had variable weather to tho Threo Kingß, which wero sighted on tho 23rd ult., and on Tuesdav night last put into Mongonui for provisions and water, leaving again on Thursday, and arriving hero at 11.30 p.m. on Saturday: Tho only strong breeze experienced during the passago was a heavy S.E. gulo on the 9th, 10th and 11th April, when near tho Throo Kings. The only vgsbols spokon during the passage was on February 19th, in latitude 27 ° 23S., longitude 53° 22* E., the ship Simlah, from Calcutta, bound to London, 25 days out; March 4th, brig Emily Smith, from Mauritius, bound to Australia, and on tho 2nd April tho schooner Petrel (off Melbourne Heads), bound to that port from Hobart Town; boarded tho latter vessol, and Bent letters on shore. The schooner Ivanhoo left Mongonui for New Caledonia on Tuesday night last. Tho schooner Jessio Kelly, Captain Smyth, had arrived at tho Mauritius from this port, and was lying idlo when tho Atlantic sailed, thero being no freights offering at all, in consequeDco of the very poor yield of tho crop this year. Largo ships were leaving in bnllast for the colonies, and wluit little sugar there was in the market was all engaged for shipment to England at a very low rate. Tho Atlantic has only brought half a cargo on that account, and tho next year's crop of sugar is expected , to bo fur short of this yoar. * | '-I'ho fever was raging to a great extent at tho Mauritius when the Atlantic sailed, Captain Kelly informing us that as many as 70 of the inhabitants there (Malahnrs and others) wore dying daily.
