H. P. Stake, Share Broker. Auckland, April 26, 1867. MR. READER WOOD'S WEEKLY REPORT. The Sharemarket has exhibited increased activity this sceek as far as transactions are concerned, though without any alteration in quotations. Thn arrival this month of 400 oz. of gold fiom the Rapanga mine hus clicked any downward tendoncjin the shares of that company. Header Wood. Auckland, April 26,1867AUCKLAND (JATTL.K MARKET. MR. ALFRED BUCK LAND'S WEEKLY BEPOBT. The heavy shower on the morning of Saturday last damaged a aood deal of the hay brought forward, and prices were consequently lower than usual. The i 'anterbury oats brought at the opening of the sale 3-- 6d per bushel, but fell as the sale proceeded to 2 s 7d, at which pr ce the sale was stopped, and the btilince are now selling freely at 3s fid the bushel. Bran brought lid the bushel. For good horse stock, whether for tiding puiposei or draught, there was a fair enquiry, and sales were effected between £20 and £30; but for the large number of broken down animals off-rins the price is nominal. At the Triangle on Tuesday last several pens of well bred steers, in fr.-sh condition, sold freely, md realised about 20s per head in advance of late markets. Sheep were dull of sale, fat merinos bringing 16s Gd each. At Newmarket, on Thursday last several pens of 1 store cattle met with a free sale at full prices. Dairy cows were offered in large numbers ; young good animals s'dd frooly, bringing from £16 to £20 each, but aged and inferior stock wero dul of salo. Fat cattle wore in full Bupply, and of first-class quality, they so'd better than for some weeks, bringing about 45s the lOOlbs; 78 head were sold, many of them of size. Fat Bheep pons wero all filled with good lialf-breds, and prices were lower; they brought from 22s to 34s each, and wore of prime quality. Merino wethers almost unsaleab'b, and many withdrawn; those sold brought from 13s to 17s 6d each, f'igs offered in large numbers; dairyfed pork maintained its price, but stores and slips were very low. WELLINGTON". Since our last report business has been rather dull, and prices continue much the same for all imported goods ;in fact the market is overutockeJ, and purchasers buy with great caro and in as small parcels as possible. Bulk beer is about the only article that has ha"J animation, all that has arrived lately has been placed f r largo parcels at prices Varying from £8 los to £9 10s. These prices cannot be Ion? maintained, as large parcels are expected to arrive shortly. Ilulk portor is for the present rather unsalable Bottled alos and porter are overstocked, and small parcels have be«n sold as low as from 9s to 10s per doz., duty paid. As the winter sets in a bet'er demand is anticipated for bottled poiter, and tha price may advance slightly. In consequence of the advanco at home, brandy md geneva have value here. We quote lUarteH'c brandy, in qr-casks at 7s Gd to 8s ; oso, 27s 63, and geneva at 14a por case, Hum is worth 3s 4d, and whisky in qr-casks being rather overstocked has reduc din price. Irish can bo purchas;d for about 7s, and Scotch at -Is ; in case at lis vV'ines of all quantities and descriptions arc overlone. ; Oilmen's stores are in very limited demand and

Sugars have been sold at auction at rates as per price current herewith. ' Teas of good quality hare been in demand, 'while < inferior may be said to bo unsaleable. 1 Tobacco.—Large parcels of this article have been < sold by auction at prices varying from 7d to lO^d. Tho quality was very little better than sheepwash." 5 Fl.mr has been sold in parcels at £10 10s fo £11 for Chili an. fi —-Invoices fetch Is per bushel. Barley for malting is rather unsaleable. s The share market has been dull for some time past g owing to tho so .rcitv of money for investment. New Z aland Bank shares are £10 10s, but very few oflering at that price. £17 being asked by holder* and very few nfF-ring at that figure. 5: Coloni.il bacon and hams are not .in demand.

0A. V T '.RF"CRY, Business during the p.tst d o illi has er'nad fut few signs of animation. Buyers are operatiug with more caution than ever, whilst stocks are far in excels

of demand. The prices of grain, of which tv province now produces Urge supplies, are rum many small farmers, and such a state of th" must necessarily affect .11 - classes. The 0 2 amve-1 from England on the 7th inaf. with 1? , the largest and most Taluable cargoes 'vet into Canterbury. The Mennaid failed on qfh mst The Himalaya is on the point of leaving. Bo h take cargoes of wool and grain. Bates of aiJm.f and exchange are unaltered. count In referring to our usual prices current, wo remark 1 we Ale in bulk.—We observe two small, parcels n„ board the < anute; both, however, are sold to la H Any fma'l lota of good brands to arrive miuht e J;i» be duposed of at about our quotations,—but cant" titi^ d be ° bserved ia nofc Bendin S for too large qu^Stout, in bulk.—Market is overdone. It is fljn; cult i o effect sales at our quotations. Ale, in bottle —Bass' and Allsopp's are eettin scarce, but we bear of sundry shipments on the war and as winter approaches, demand will fall J* tocks of other brand* are in good supply, especially o! the London and Colonial Company, which is e„ tirely overdone. Stout, in bottle.—Good brands are in fair demand with ample supply for present requirements. We look for a considerable business in tnis article durin® the winter months. We learn that sundry shipments of Guinness' stout, bottled by Burke, peJoyse Phillips, have turned out sour; this is an unusual occurrence with this celebrated brand. Hams and bacon remain excessively dull of gale whilst we hear of heavy stocks on all aides. ' Cornsacks are getting scarce j prices are consequently inclined to rise. Candles do not exhibit the same s.nimation as in Australia, we quote lower rates than are ruling in Melbourne and Sydney. aro firm, with an upward tendency. Becent advices from Mauritius tend to strengthen the market. ° In teas we have no new feature to report.—h/itli. ton Times, April 16. OTAG-O. The import market has not shown much activity throughout the week, owing no doubt to the non-re-ceipt of the commercial correspondence so long overdue from Britain. There htn, however, been a fair current demand for miscellaneous stock for up. country requirements and for despatch coastwise. In breadstuff's there is nothing taking place except small sales of flour for current wants, the descriptions of which in tbe market are now chiefly South Australian and Provincial; Values of both kinds remain without alteration. Teas have been placed to some extent at full rates. The chief parcels have been purchased for holding. The business done in sugars has been moderate, and only for trade demand, buyers anticipating a spesdy opportunity of again purchasing by auction. The bulk beor trade has been fairly active, the parcels of new bear to hind being placed at good opening prices; a slightly hotter enquiry has also been experienced for stouts in glass, but without any improvement in value taking place. In spirits «nd wines, transactions have been unimportant but rates are maintained, and the market rather inclined in some articles to rally a little. Provisions, viz., bacon and hams and butter, are coming into demand, and promise t > reach a higher value speedily. In general, quotations have not varied to any appreciable extent, but it i sexpected that the market will be influenced to activity and improvement in several articles after delivery of the mails.—Times April 17. MELBOURNE. Advices as telegraphed show a great fa'ling off in shipments, and cannot fail to influenco the markets favorably. Shipments of candles are reported at eighty-nine tons, but it must not be overlooked in connexion with this fact that at least thirty tons of those have already arrived, and as in the supplement of last month none were reported for Sydnej, it may fairly be surmised that little or nothing has gone forward to that colony. Spirits, wines, ■tc., appear as very light. Shipments of oib hive also decreased. Private telegrams regarding teas report the departure from China of the Shelburne, for Sydney. Do vessels were loading, but three or four small cargoes were being prepared for the colonies, the remainder of tho season's congou in the market having been purchased for that purpose. No information regarding shipm«nts coming forward from Calcutta or other Indian ports reached us during busines-B hours. Breadstuffs show an improvement. Flour is decidedly stiffer, though no actual alteration in price is yet reported. We hear of some 10,000 huahoa nf P-ift MacDnnnell wheat, having been sold, to arrive, for shipment, at equal to 5s 2d net, a figure which shows a tenienoy to advance. Victorian whe*tia also quoted a shade higher, viz., 4s 9d to 5a for prime samples. Maize has been sold, in quantity, at 4s—a Blight rise. A parcel of about forty bales of Dundee cornsacks has changed hands at 13s Id.— Argus, April 15.
