*I am aware that this la a serious charge. I Have therelore prepared a_brief statement of the grounds on which I L 9 "Pinion in the Ist Appendix to this Lecture. Ist. liie Petition states that thc_ Queen's Letters Patent were declared null and void.' This was not the case, the Judicial Committee declared the Judgment of the Bishop of Cape 1 own null and void, which wus a very different tiling. 2nd. The Petition quotes the judgment of Lord Lyndhurst. as if his Lordslup referred to the principle of voluntary comimct, as " effectually guarding" the Church from the "denial of justice, apprehended by the Lords of the Judicial Committee, whereas the Judge (in covert language, I admit, but not the less) emphatically states the contrary.
