THE SUPERRINTENDENCY.
The following requisition for presentation to Mr. Jobur WiixrAJisoir has been received by a gentleman in. Auckland, on Saturday :— To John- Wu-liasijon, member of the ~reat Rnnanrjrt of s«ew Zealand—gfeeting : Friend,—"We llaoriea residing at Or.ikei holding Crown grants, &c.,. Jiaving forwarded our n times for registration, ask you—as our old friend Mr. 'VVhitaker the Supreme Magistrate of Auckland, has resigned his office —to take the chair he has vacated. ° We havo heard that you are a man of peacs and that you have kindly foelings towards the Maori race we hope therefore that you may be elected Superintendent, and by a judicious course of action allay the war spirit, and quiet the troubles of the land. (Signed by i'aul Tuhaere, the Chief of Orakel, and twelve other aboriginal natives ) March 30, 1867.
